DTG (Direct to Garment) Printing

What is it and how does it work?

Direct to Garment, or DTG, is a printing method that sprays the ink onto the garment. The ink then soaks into the fibers of the garment. It’s like printing on paper, but on clothing.

The main advantage of DTG is that it’s easy to print one-offs because there’s almost no setup time. Need a printed t-shirt or hoodie asap? DTG printing is the answer for you!

DTG (Direct to Garment) Printing

DTG is a much newer process that involves your artwork being processed by a computer, and then printed directly onto the surface of your product. DTG is not a heat transfer or applique, as the ink is directly adhered to the fabric of your shirt. Each printing process has its strengths, and our artwork team will weigh these when deciding which to use for your design.

DTG is best used for items that require high amounts of detail, and orders of a smaller quantity. The fact that the DTG printer does not use screens allows for a photographic print, with much more detail than traditional screen printing. As the ink is applied thinner (to achieve such detail). The fact that the design is processed and printed digitally allows for a quantity of one, since there are no screens or physical setup involved.

We use 100% cotton garments for all DTG printing. We can not use Direct to Garment Printing on polyester shirts, as the current technology doesn't allow it. In this case we would recommend you look at our other print options for the best results.
